The Balanced and Complete Individual |
|
The Taoists believe that in order for a person to attain enlightenment and spiritual fulfilment they must first become a ‘complete individual’. This is achieved through the study of the Internal Arts and ensures that the long periods of personal training enable the practitioner to be continually developing and bettering themselves. A practitioner should have a high level of health, strength, flexibility and well-being. All qualities that can be derived from the practice of the Taoist Arts. Through TaijiQuan self defence is also learnt alongside increased confidence and self assurance. The Martial Arts in particular traditionally included the study of ethics and philosophy, it was this aspect that elevated them to the status of an Art form rather than simply a fighting style. Many people practice Martial Arts in modern times but very few look at this aspect of the training, a high level Master should be capable of a high level of Martial Prowess but also be a kind, wise and compassionate individual. If not they have learnt nothing from their training. To achieve this is to attain the state of the ‘balanced and complete individual’.

Taoist Internal Arts Lotus Nei Gong Internal Arts was established in early 2006 by Laoshr Damo Mitchell in an attempt to promote the practice of the Taoist Internal Arts in their entirety.
Incomplete Many people in the West practice Arts such as TaijiQuan, Qi Gong and Internal Alchemy but very few understand the deeper aspects of the systems and so they are often watered down and incomplete.
Balance Lotus Nei Gong has an equal emphasis on the Healing, Spiritual and Martial aspects of the Internal Arts, without equal training in all three of these areas the Art is unbalanced and a full understanding cannot be developed. |

Energy Body For many thousands of years the ancient Taoists have understood the inner workings of the human body. They understood that we are comprised not only of our physical form but also of an energetic body which is of equal importance. The Internal Arts were created in order to understand and develop this energetic body so that we may use it for promoting Health, Longevity, Martial Prowess and most importantly Spiritual Development. Laoshr Damo Laoshr Damo has trained in the Martial and Eastern Arts since the age of 4 resulting in over 23 years of practice. He has trained in both the West and the East with many high level teachers. He specializes in Yang and Chen style TaijiQuan as well as Qi Gong, Taoist Yoga, Internal Alchemy, Baguazhang and Gong Fu. He is a full Lineage holder in the Internal Arts and follows the teachings of the Complete Reality School of Taoism although certain aspects of Chan Buddhism are incorporated into his teachings. A more complete training history can be accessed through the menu on the left. The Website This Website outlines details of the syllabus taught within Lotus Nei Gong Internal Arts and where to access this teaching. It also contains information on the Taoist Internal Arts in general.

Wudang Shan Mount Wudang is the main historical site of Taoism in China. Its peaks cover a huge area and are dotted with various temples and holy Taoist sites. Many of the Internal Arts were developed here and even today many Monks continue to live and train amongst the many caves and forests which cover its surface. |

Chan San Feng One of the most important of the Taoist Sages is Chan San Feng who is attributed with the creation of TaijiQuan as well as the writing of many classics on the subjects of Martial Arts and Internal Alchemy. These classics still serve as the theoretical basis for training in the Internal Arts although they are sadly often misunderstood due to the esoteric language they are written in. Lotus Nei Gong courses often include theoretical lectures on the nature of these and other classic texts and their content. Through understanding these texts it is possible to quickly gain an understanding of the essence of the Taoist Arts. |
